Erica Meiland is still completely done with Chantal Janzen since their conflict at Eva Jinek’s talk show table. “If she is in the picture, I immediately zap away. He just wants to be good.”
It’s been almost a year and a half since Erica Meiland was almost canceled because she compared women in burkas to penguins. At Eva Jinek’s talk show table, she was not only attacked hard by the hostess herself, but also by fellow guest Chantal Janzen. “I like you very much, but this scared me.”
‘Hypocritical rascal’
It led to quite a stir: according to Meilandjes biographer Jan Dijkgraaf, Chantal is a ‘hypocritical rascal’, Wilfred Genee opted for camp Chantal and Angela de Jong for camp Erica. In the period after that, Erica has often lashed out at Chantal, for example by saying that she ‘gross in stupid comments’. And Jinek? It has also been written off.
Erica now thinks exactly the same about Chantal, she says in an interview with the Weekend. She is very disappointed in how the RTL 4 presenter behaved in the talk show at the time. In fact, in the Meilandjes tear-off calendar, Erica mentions Chantal’s name when it comes to the ‘most annoying presenter’.
‘Chantal is woke’
Very annoying, Erica emphasizes in the magazine. “That’s right. I didn’t think so before. I loved Chantal. But you get a completely different picture of someone when she acts like that. You know, don’t just do it. Don’t say things like that. It’s all that woke thing, that goodness. Just tell it like it is. It is what it is.”
How does she look at Chantal now? “Completely different. Of course I always think about what I experienced with her in that broadcast. As I said, you get a different image of someone and that’s a shame, because I always liked her very much. So now I’m zapping away, yeah. I hardly ever look at her anymore. She doesn’t have good programs either, haha!”
‘No Hazes please!’
Finally: her daughter Montana Meiland is single again. Is André Hazes Jr. not for her? Or Donny Roelvink? Rick Brandsteader? “No, because these are all men who, in addition to a relationship, also do all kinds of things with others. That’s nothing, we don’t like that.”
“They have to do well, you know. But not with my daughter.”
