As Britain descends into political chaos following the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Eric Clapton releases the song ‘Pompous Fool’. Coincidence? The biting, ironic blues anthem may be aimed at the former head of state.

“Don’t worry/ Don’t be sad/ Let your wife take care of you,” sings Eric Clapton, translating to “Pompous Fool.” The song was released without any announcement or press release. It’s best to listen for yourself.

Clapton has had few positive words for Johnson in the past. Above all, he sharply criticized his corona policy. When it was announced almost a year ago that a vaccination was necessary to attend a concert in Great Britain, Clapton commented as follows.

“I would like to announce that I will not perform on any stage where part of the audience is discriminated against. Unless all people are scheduled to attend, I reserve the right to cancel the show.”
