There were supposed to be points, but there was only one point. Erzgebirge Aue did not get beyond a draw despite being outnumbered by an hour in the home game against Ingolstadt. Particularly bitter: the equalizer came in stoppage time. The whereabouts of head coach Jens Härtel therefore remains uncertain.

FC Erzgebirge Aue continues to stand still in the bottom of the table. In the home game in front of 5,710 spectators, the Violets couldn’t get past a 2-2 draw against FC Ingolstadt. Aue fell behind thanks to Frederik Carlsen’s goal (31st). Marvin Stefaniak (48th) and Jonah Fabisch (79th) put the Saxons on the supposed path to victory, but Jonas Scholz (90th + 1) let the three-point dream burst.

Ingolstadt hits and decimates itself

Aue started with a lot of possession, but there were no dangerous moves from the deep guests. The hosts made their first dangerous approach to the goal in the 20th minute through Anthony Barylla, who couldn’t quite decide whether to cross or shoot. Ultimately the ball went past the far post.

Ingolstadt then became more offensive. The Auers were lucky in the 26th minute when Gustav Christensen jumped past the ball after a input. Shortly afterwards, the Ingolstadt player had more success: After a free kick, Jonas Scholz pushed Aue’s Tristan Zobel and passed the ball with his arm to Christensen, who pushed the ball over the line to take the lead (31′). Two minutes later, the guests decimated themselves when Julian Kügel Aues brought down Ryan Malone on the sideline. Despite the majority, the hosts lacked the necessary penetration until the break.

Aue turns game – Ingolstadt hits back

After the change, Stefaniak (48th) scored the celebrated equalizer after a input from Barylla. In the 63rd minute, Auer’s lead was in the air, but Malone was denied by the brilliantly reacting FCI goalkeeper Kai Eisele. On the other side, Louis Lord, who was replacing the ailing goalkeeper Martin Männel, made an equally strong save from a header from Mattis Hoppe (70′). Aue continued to try hard and was rewarded by Fabisch, who made it 2-1 with a header and turned the game around.

However, the guests, whose personnel had been decimated, did not give up against Auer, who was far too passive, and managed to equalize through Scholz in stoppage time. The Härtel team, which is in 17th place in the table with 18 points, continues next Saturday at MSV Duisburg. Ingolstadt welcomes TSV 1860 Munich.
