Supported by the Turkish Football Federation within the scope of the ‘Turkey Plays Football’ project, the National Team of the Visually Impaired, within the body of the Sports Federation for the Visually Impaired, came second in the final match of the IBSA European Football Championship held in Pescara, Italy, losing to France. The convoy arrived in Ankara in the evening. The national team was enthusiastically welcomed by their relatives and citizens at Esenboğa Airport.


“I AM PROUD OF ALL”


Ayhan Yıldırım, President of the Visually Impaired Sports Federation of Turkey, said, “We had goals before we went here. Our goals were primarily to qualify for the semi-finals and get a quota for the World Cup. Our next goal was to get a quota for the cup and the Paralympics. Thank God, we got a quota. 2024′ “I hope we will achieve good results with our B1 team in Paris. Sometimes the penalties are on your side, sometimes on the side of the opponent. My brothers put their lives on the line. I am proud of each and every one of them,” he said.

Niyazi Metin, the coach of the Voice-Bearing National Team, said, “This result did not come as a surprise to us. We had serious problems when it came to the championship. All of my athletes came out with a needle while playing the final match and the semi-final match. They came out in a bandaged manner. Thank God, we were aware of our responsibility. We know the weight of the jersey. May it be good for our community. May it be good for our country,” he said.
