After the defeat of Wiegman’s team against France, the first English defeat in the group stage of the European Championship ever, the hefty tabloids had already prepared the heel block and the chainsaws. But they could already go back into the barn on Wednesday evening: the reigning European champion gave the Orange in Zurich a great beating.

And the fans of the Lionesses Know too. Just like that the thousands of supporters who are accompanied by ‘Queen Sarina’ do not hide. So they did that on the well-known tones of The Champs, the American rock ‘n roll-band that had a thunderous hit with the song in the late 1950s Tequila.

Name of Mexican Agaved drink subtly replaced by ‘Sarina’

With the understanding that the fans had replaced the word of the Mexican liqueur, distilled from the blue agave plant, with the first name of the Hague success coach. In other words: “Ta ta tata ta ta ta ta … sarina!”

Where Andries Jonker ran a death march afterwards, Wiegman hopped on the Latin tones of The Champs with a big grin over the Swiss grass.

Champagne and beer replaced with Tequila and Hopjes-liqueur Hague

England is back in the tournament that Wiegman & Co won three years ago. After the final, the players went en masse to the champagne and the beer. With a new overall victory, this time, small shots of tequila may be drunk, or a liqueur of Haagse Hopjes.
