Florian Wirtz switched from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool for 125 million euros. However, he could not convince there. Now a big name is commented on a new addition – and becomes clear.
Former English soccer player Wayne Rooney has expressed great doubts about Liverpool’s obligation by Florian Wirtz. “I don’t see where it fits into the team,” said Rooney in his BBC radio broadcast “The Wayne Rooney Show” and fundamentally questioned the German playmaker’s commitment. “It was a lot of money. I think Wirtz actually harms the balance of Liverpool and the way they play.”
Wirtz, who switched from Bayer Leverkusen to FC Liverpool for the time for the record of 125 million euros in summer, was still waiting for his first goal after eight games and was not yet able to prepare his teammates. In return, Alexander Isak has already met 145 million euro newcomers, former Frankfurter Hugo Ekitiké (came for 95 million euros) five times. “It has been difficult for him so far. I think that’s undeniable,” said Rooney, who was once hunt for Liverpools Rivals Manchester United and FC Everton. “Wirtz is probably the one who has least convinced so far, even though he has so much talent.”
After all: Wirtz “played okay” and gets even better, says Rooney. Nevertheless, MAN United’s record goal scorer sees a serious problem. “I have already seen a lot of players who came to this league and took their time. It is not due to the price tag. It is not due to the player or his skills. I just don’t see how it fits into the Liverpool system.”
