The project with the free white goods change of the municipality of Assen appears to be a success. Over the past two years, 477 energy -slurping refrigerators, freezers and washing machines from less bearing ashens have been replaced. In total, this saves households a year 19,000 euros in energy costs.

The municipality had 300,000 euros ready for this white goods measure. That money is fully used.

With the white goods change, many tenants from Housing Corporation Actium have been reached, namely 88 percent. Ten percent turned out to be homeowner. Most white goods changes are made in the Lariks (45 percent), Assen-Oost (9 percent) and Noorderpark (9 percent).

The scheme for less struggling in Assen was introduced in April 2023 to prevent the growing problem of energy poverty. With money from the municipality, residents were able to have a white goods machine free for free, which Vrat has been replaced for free with an energy -efficient copy. Neighborhood workers, energy coaches and advisers of Actium determined whether a household was eligible for the white goods change and for which device.

Last July, the city council adopted a motion, with the call to make a plan for combating energy poverty. Via the Asser Energy Desk is also helped to make homes more energy efficient. Then it includes insulation measures and the replacement of lamps with LED. The successful white goods change will also be included in the evaluation and possible continuation of both plans.

In September, the council decides on the continuation of the approach to energy poverty, also continuing of the exchange of white goods.
