Energy fund Kortrijk has already helped 800 families in crisis

The fund will be further strengthened with new actions during this energy crisis.

Protect against rising energy prices

“Kortrijk wants to build a dike to protect as many families as possible against the exuberant energy price increases,” says the city.

“In December of last year, Kortrijk was one of the first central cities to start its own initiative to protect its inhabitants against sharply rising energy prices.”

Already 800 families helped

The Kortrijk Energy Fund is already proving its worth, 9 months after its launch, the city says: 800 families have already been successfully assisted.

“New actions are coming, such as: additional funding to help more families, especially lower-middle-class families, a tool to calculate realistic advance bills, and the search for and support of what is believed to be more than 1,000 families who surprisingly do not use the social rate even though they are entitled.”

“No support needed so far”

“There was 300,000 euros in the fund, 171,000 euros has already been paid out or an average of 900 euros per family,” said Alderman of Social Progress Philippe De Coene. “These are families who have not needed support until now,” emphasizes the ships.
