Critical thinking, self -management, digital skills (including artificial intelligence), effective communication and data analysis, are the capacities that today define who stands out in a changing labor market. To this is added a new differential: emotional intelligence, a key ability to manage stress, work as a team and lead with empathy in increasingly challenging environments.
The labor market worldwide, including Argentina, is living a deep transformation. The emergence of new jobs and the disappearance of old roles, which decades were established, boost the panorama concerning human resources. In this context, training is no longer something that is done only once in life: today, staying employable demands to learn all the time.
Two concepts became key in this new scenario: Reskilling and Newskilling. The first refers to reconsider to assume new roles, especially in sectors where technology or automation displaced traditional tasks. The second implies incorporating completely new skills to prepare against jobs that are still emerging. However, to them also adds the Upskilling, which consists in perfecting and deepening existing competences to better adapt to changes in the work environment and assume greater responsibilities.
These three processes are fundamental not only to get a job, but also to grow professionally. María Florencia Insúa, Project Manager and TR Consulting Consulting, summarizes it: “It is not just about adding technical knowledge, but about adapting, learning quickly and applying what they learned in changing contexts.” And he adds that those who adopt this mentality have a real advantage over the rest.
The good news, for the specialist, is that it was never so accessible to form. Online platforms, short courses, virtual training and free content allow to acquire new competitions from anywhere. In a world where everything is transformed, those who learn to transform also have more chances of standing out.
“Today we see more and more searches where technical can be learned, but soft skills are what really distinguishes a person. Especially in junior positions or in labor reconversion processes, companies prioritize attitude, flexibility and the ability to learn above the CV,” they say from TR Consultants, a signing specialized in talent and organizational development.

For experts, skills are divided into two large groups: soft (soft skills) and techniques (hard skills). The former are transversal to any item and increasingly valued; The latter allow to perform in digitalized and productive environments.
Among the most wanted soft skills are adaptability, critical thinking, the ability to work as a team, effective communication, autonomy, disposition to continuous learning and emotional intelligence. These competences allow to develop with ease in uncertain contexts, learn autonomously and collaborate with others in hybrid or completely remote environments.
On the other hand, the most valued technical skills today include data analysis, domain of Advanced Excel, Power BI or SQL, the use of automation tools such as Zapier, make or google apps script, and the basic management of generative artificial intelligence as Chatgpt or co -pilot. Knowledge is also sought in digital marketing focused on results (such as SEO, paid campaigns – Meta, Google Ads – and metric analysis), design UX/UI, and cybersecurity.
Having a solid combination of both types of skills became essential. It is not enough to be a specialist in something: it is necessary to learn, know how to communicate what one does and to be able to adapt to different scenarios. In short, the work of the future no longer depends only on the position that deals, but on what is known to do, how it was learned and how prepared it is for what is coming.
