It is early on Saturday morning when fright in swimming trunks and diving equipment enters the swimming pool. Chairman Luuk Tomson gives him a brief instruction before jumping into the water. “This is something different than a day at the office,” jokes. “Very nice to be able to do this at the kick -off of the National Sports Week. I had a great morning.”
According to Tomson, the alderman did not work poorly at all. “Of course you have to learn the basics and pay close attention to safety, but that went very well.”
The Vignnet Safe Dressing Room is a quality mark for sports clubs in Drenthe that actively work on a safe and inclusive sports environment for all their members, regardless of background, gender identity or sexual orientation. Clubs that want to achieve the vignette are going through a program with a step -by -step plan and guidance, aimed at raising awareness and visibility of a safe sports climate.
Tomson: “When we heard about this program, we immediately thought: we actually already meet about 80% of the requirements. After contacting us, we have taken the last steps. The result is that we are now the first diving club with this vignette. We are extremely proud of that.”
Alderman Schrik hopes that more associations will follow: “There are already several clubs working to achieve the Vignnet safe dressing room. Our goal is that ultimately as many associations as possible bear this quality mark.”
