Emmen will nevertheless maintain a parking ban at the Brink in Noordbarge. This after a long insistence of a local resident. This has been insisting for years that the municipality has to do something about the cars that are parked on the grass and tree-rich Brink. The court has already tapped the municipality about this.
In the past, the municipality turned off the resident with the argument that he cannot experience any inconvenience. With his enforcement requests, he seems to “mainly pursue legal proceedings,” the municipality said at the time. The municipality therefore wiped the continuing current objections from the table.
But the court did not agree and thought it was plausible that the complainant experiences nuisance. In his most recent letter, the objectioner points to the new construction of the Terra school delivered to the Brink since 2020.
In the past the school was spread over two locations within the neighborhood, now they are in one place. As a result, more parking nuisance by visitors. The school is good for nearly 1100 students, just as much as North Barge has been rich. The grass is driven to fragments and trees suffer from the driving and finishing of cars.
The argument of the municipality that De Brink has no protected status is not true according to the resident. Because De Brink does appear on the provincial protective list.
Michel Supheert from the ChristenUnie asked questions tonight about what the municipality is doing with this. Alderman Jan Bos responded by indicating that it is still being maintained. “But most residents assume that you can park there. We have now told them that there is a ban.”
Terra also included this in a newsletter to parents and students. In the short term, there will still be signs at the Brink. “Incidentally, we do not immediately hand out fines,” says Bos. “We first give a warning.”
