The municipality of Emmen will look at how the safety of a crossing point at the Brugstraat in Klazienaveen can be improved. Council member Leon Herbers (Wakker Emmen) drew attention to this after the serious accident that occurred on January 4.
On that date, a pedestrian was injured after being hit by a car at the zebra crossing. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. A trauma helicopter was present, but it turned out not to be necessary. According to Herbers, this is a place where dangerous situations have often occurred.
Alderman René van der Weide recognized the seriousness of the accident. According to him, consultations have now been held with the police about improving the traffic situation. “A zebra crossing can offer both safety and an appearance of safety. We are therefore going to see what we can do about this situation,” he said.
