Emma Wortelboer about her boycott of Johnny de Mol: ‘Should send him an actual text message’ | show

Emma Wortelboer states that she should ‘actually send a text message’ to Johnny de Mol after she decided to boycott him earlier this year because of allegations of abuse against him. The case against the presenter, brought by his ex-girlfriend Shima Kaes, has now been dropped by the OM. “I was more concerned with the closeness of that show,” said Wortelboer yesterday in the New Year’s Eve special of Media Inside.

The 26-year-old Wortelboer was invited to join the talk show in April HLF8presented by Johnny de Mol, but decided to boycott him because of the case of the alleged abuse of his ex-fiancee Shima Kaes.

“Of course you are with someone who is suspected of attempted murder, of course. That is quite a thing,” said Wortelboer at the time. After the young presenter failed to appear, De Mol decided to call her personally to tell his side of the story. “And then I thought, well, I’m not coming. I just don’t feel comfortable with that. I thought: then I have to avoid the pink elephant in the room a bit.”

In October, however, the Public Prosecution Service dropped the case against De Mol because the ‘investigation has not led to sufficient evidence’. Media Inside-regular guest Marcel van Roosmalen therefore wondered whether Wortelboer regretted her boycott. “Because now we see the innocence of Johnny. He has also been proven innocent. Will there be another text message from you to Johnny, like: sorry, I misjudged you?” he asked her yesterday in the New Year’s Eve special.

,,I should actually do that’, responded Wortelboer, who stated that in April she really didn’t care at all about whether or not Johnny was right. ,,It was more about me that the magnifying glass was on that show. Just hassle. Do not feel like.”
