Various roads in Brabant will be (partly) closed on Monday due to emergency repairs. This concerns the A58 and the A65.
The A65 is closed between the Vught and De Baars junctions. Traffic to Tilburg will be diverted via the A2 and A58 via Eindhoven. “The road surface is in very bad condition, there are many holes in the road,” says an ANWB spokesperson. It is still unclear when the road will reopen.
Rijkswaterstaat waited until after the morning rush hour to make repairs, the ANWB spokesperson indicated. The repair may take a while due to the number of potholes in the road.
A58 near Galder
Rijkswaterstaat is also carrying out emergency repairs on the A58 from Tilburg to Breda. At the Galder junction the connecting road to the A16 towards Antwerp is closed. Traffic can turn around at the A16, Breda exit. Rijkswaterstaat thinks the road will reopen around eleven o’clock.
The exceptional winter weather has caused damage to the asphalt in several places. During precipitation, water can remain in the asphalt and when that water freezes, it expands and causes cracks in the road surface.
Until Monday morning, the N261 between Waalwijk and Tilburg was also partly closed. The winter weather caused so much damage to the road surface that work had to be done all weekend.
