The Emergency Fund energy will start within a few weeks. It is expected that vulnerable households with a high energy bill in the week of 21 April can submit an application. A week in advance, the Temporary Emergency Fund Energie Fund (TNE) will announce when the counter will open. For the first time, households with a block connection are also eligible for support from the fund.

The conditions for an application are the same as last year. The estimate is that around 100,000 households can get support.

Many people have already reported to the TNE Foundation with interest in the fund. That is why households that are eligible is advised to provide a DigiD on time and not to wait too long with an application.

Help with request

This year money has been made available again to help households who have difficulty making a request yourself. They can be referred to local care providers via the Dutch debt counseling. Volunteers also set up walk -in points and there is support at home.

State Secretary Jurgen Nobel: “I am pleased that the government can give the most vulnerable households a helping hand through the emergency fund. At the same time, we do not help everyone with money worries and a high energy bill. That is why this cabinet continues to look at how we can lower the energy bill in the long term.”

Who can request it?

  • The household has an income of up to 200% of the social minimum. This means that gross income per month is lower than € 3,400 – (single) or € 4,740 – (living together). Including 8% holiday pay.
  • The energy costs of the household are higher than 8 to 10 percent of gross income per month.
  • This year, households with a block connection can also apply.

How to request?

All information about the application can be found at Emergency Fondenergie.nl. This site also reports when the limit of the maximum number of requests comes into view and the counter closes again.
