What Afifa is busy with, qualifying for the World Cup Athletics in Tokyo of next September. He can do that by walking around 100 meters in 10 seconds or qualifying through a ranking.

“It is very important for me to improve my PR, so that I get higher on the ranking. I am currently 35th and the best 48 athletes go to Tokyo. I certainly do not count myself rich, so I always want to walk faster.”

Fun

The Amsterdammer was supported by family and friends during the EK Indoor in Apeldoorn. That is the case again on Saturday. “I go with my brothers in the car to Hengelo. The flag they have made for me will go again. Besides my brothers there are plenty of other acquaintances in the stands, so it’s a fun party.”

The NK athletics starts today and lasts until tomorrow. In addition to Afifa, Jessica Schilder (shot put), Lieke Klaver (200 meters), Nadine Visser (100 meters hurdles), Menno Vloon (Polsttokhooog jumping) and Pauline Hondema (long jump) will be other North Holland eye-catchers.
