He just doesn’t like to look at himself: In a new interview, Elton John has revealed that he prefers not to examine video and sound recordings afterwards.
Recently, however, he should still contractually look at a recording and was “surprised how good it was”. Nevertheless, the 77-year-old remains that he would not necessarily put on his own music.
When he listens, then only because of a contractual bond
In conversation with “BBC”, Elton John revealed that there was an exception recently: he heard a recording because it was about the approval of a live album. The recording showed A concert with Ray Cooper from 1977. “I was surprised at how good it was,” he said. And he described the experience as “incredible”.
When the focus was on the documentary “It’s Never Too Late”, which Elton John’s life and career in the focus, he said, he said. He could not remember the video of his performance of “Candle in the Wind” from 1973.

“I never look at anything about myself because I just don’t like to look at myself,” said the UK star. And further: “I am not someone who bases himself in his success.”
