Identifying cyber attacks is more complicated than Elon Musk suggested, says a security company.
Elon Musk suggested that the cyber attack on X came from Ukraine. However, this does not seem to have been the case. Jen Golbeck
Cyber security company Check Point Research Criticized Elon Muskin The argument that the traces of the denial of service to the message service would lead to Ukraine and Ukrainian IP addresses.
-It is justified that IP addresses are by no means a reliable way to locate the origin of the attack. That is why the direct combination of the attack with a particular state is both hasty and misleading, the company says in a news release.
It recalls that cyber criminals typically use several intervention servers and other anonymization tools to cover their true location.
– In cyber warfare, identifying authors is always complicated and requires extensive, interdimensional investigation.
News agency Reuters According to information, the majority of the disadvantage of the DDOS or service attack on X on Monday was derived from US, Vietnamese and Brazilian IP addresses.
Dark Storm
Dark Storm, a Pro-Palestinian group, has been registered as a denial of service attack. According to Check Point Research, this is not just an ideologically motivated hacker.
– Dark Storm is also a profitable cyber attack service provider. The group sells DDOS attacks and breaks down into databases, Check Point says.
It has focused on Western countries such as the United States and Israel.
Over the past six months, Dark Storm has made cyber attacks at international airports in New York and Los Angeles, Haifa’s port in Israel and the UAE Ministry of Defense.
In February 2024, the group threatened NATO countries with cyber attacks. According to Check Point, Dark Storm is allied with hacker groups supporting Russia.
