Not all calls may be worth answering. If you answer, there is a reason to take doubts about special requests.

In its announcement, the Finnish Telemarketing Association lists directional numbers, which have recently played a lot of scam calls for Finns.

It calls for ensuring the correctness of the person playing a foreign number by contacting the customer service of the company or authority in question.

Particularly careful should be taken if the caller’s area code is one of the following:

  • +47 (Norway)
  • +44 (UK)
  • +357 (Cyprus)
  • +352 (Luxembourg)
  • +421 (Slovakia)
  • +372 (Estonia)
  • +48 (Poland)
  • +46 (Sweden)
  • +32 (Belgium)
  • +36 (Hungary)

There are a lot of scam messages on the move

The association also reports that it has recently found a lot of messages that have been invited to log in to the online service or pay an urgent invoice.

– For example, text messages sent in the name of the Tax Administration or the bailiff’s office may claim that the unpaid invoice is leading to collection, and a link is accompanied by a link to handle the matter. There are also a lot of scam messages in the name of the Automobile Association, the association says in a news release.

It warns in particular of scam messages made in the name of banks, which can be particularly credible.

– For example, they indicate that your account information should be updated or that you have an electronically signed document. In these cases, it is important to remember that genuine banks do not ask to sign in to services via the link in the message, the association recalls.
