Eleven clubs in Italy reported for false financial information

Rome (AP) – The public prosecutor’s office has reported eleven clubs of the Italian Football Association (FIGC) because of excessive value information in connection with their players.

The clubs, five of which play in Serie A, have recorded much higher capital gains and player entitlements in their financial reports than current calculation rules allow, the FIGC said. According to their own statements, the prosecution also reported 61 suspects, including managers and managing directors of the clubs.

According to the public prosecutor, the Serie A clubs Juventus Turin, SSC Napoli, CFC Genoa, FC Empoli and Sampdoria Genoa are affected. The other clubs play in the second division, Serie B or lower. Sampdoria Genoa issued a statement on the case. The association had always acted in accordance with the applicable laws and standards, it said on Friday.

According to the “Gazzetta dello Sport”, the case will end up in court. The accused face a fine. If the managers are found guilty, they face a ban.
