“I made a lot of music with Hannes in the eighties and nineties,” says Peter Stufkens. He is also a musician and artist. “A lot of people didn’t understand his music, they thought it was just noise. I didn’t think so. It was improvisational punk. Later his work was taken more seriously, fortunately.”

‘Lived in his own world’

According to Peter, Hannes, or ‘Han’ as he calls him, was difficult to understand. “He lived in his own world. One day we played together, the next day he rehearsed with others. That felt a bit annoying, but I accepted it. That’s just how he was. Sometimes he was also disappointed with a performance. Why? He didn’t say that.”
