For Eintracht Frankfurt, concerns are becoming ever greater before the Champions League game next Tuesday (9 p.m.) against FC Barcelona. After national striker Jonathan Burkardt (25, calf injury), Michy Batshuayi (32) is now also out. The Belgian made his starting debut this season in the 6-0 defeat at RB Leipzig, but had to be substituted at half-time.

Update: The diagnosis followed on Monday evening: Batshuayi suffered a metatarsal fracture and has already undergone successful surgery. The eagle bearers did not provide any information about the exact downtime.

“It doesn’t look quite so good, he got a hit on his foot and has to go to the MRI tomorrow. But that won’t be a thing for Christmas,” Eintracht coach Dino Toppmöller said at the press conference. Another offensive player, Ansgar Knauff (23, cold), was temporarily unavailable for the Hessians. Elye Wahi (22), who hasn’t really gotten along in Frankfurt so far, is the last remaining trained center forward in the squad.
