Eintracht Frankfurt | Cocaine investigation? Decision made by Fischer

This news shook an entire football club: At the end of last year it became known that Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt was investigating Peter Fischer. It was about the illegal acquisition and possession of cocaine. The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt has now announced a decision in the matter of the dazzling president.

As was officially announced on Thursday by senior public prosecutor Nadja Niesen, the investigation into the 67-year-old for cocaine possession was discontinued. There will be no further legal activities, let alone criminal proceedings. Fischer had previously rejected the allegations as unfounded.

The SBU President, his wife and his older son were accused of storing cocaine in their apartment in Frankfurt in such a way that the underage son was said to have had access to it.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, a classmate and his mother testified that the Fischer son brought some of the cocaine to school and used it there together with the classmate.

Initial suspicion persists

These statements were viewed and evaluated as “initially credible”. However, there were no further substantiations of these allegations, so that the investigations were ultimately discontinued.

It was also said that a hair sample from the classmate even confirmed his “repeated use of cocaine”. However, a direct connection to the Fischers could not be proven.

At the end of January, the whole case attracted a great deal of attention when, according to the “Hessenschau”, a search of the fisherman’s home found “white residue”, a small amount of marijuana and four “crushers”.

There is still an “initial suspicion of a violation of the Narcotics Act,” the public prosecutor said on Thursday. “Ultimately, however, this could not be substantiated against any of the accused in the sense of sufficient suspicion,” the letter said.

Since August 2000, Fischer has been president of the association with more than 100,000 members in 19 departments. During the public prosecutor’s investigation, he had largely withdrawn from the public eye.

In the more than 22 years he has developed the traditional Hessian club with his unconventional nature and closeness to the fans into one of the largest Bundesliga clubs in Germany. He was only confirmed in office for another four years on September 26, 2022.
