There was no room for curious spectators and the press at Sportpark De Toekomst. The match was played in atmospheric conditions. And that was a pity, because both teams played with a pretty strong team. Maarten Stekelenburg was under the crossbar with the team from Amsterdam, Calvin Bassey and Owen Wijndal in the back and World Cup dropouts Devyne Rensch and Brian Brobbey also started.

At Volendam, Diego Gustavo had a basic place in midfield. However, the Brazilian, who did not make any official minutes in the first, opened the score after seven minutes: 1-0. The game then swung up and down without any great opportunities. After half an hour of play, Christian Rasmussen became dangerous with a header from a cross from Youri Regeer. Shortly afterwards, trainers Alfred Schreuder and Wim Jonk made a number of substitutions.
