Basketball players just win with Leons and Edwards from Austria
22.25 hours: The Dutch basketball players won their first game in the battle for a place at the World Cup qualifying tournament on Saturday evening. The Netherlands narrowly defeated Austria in The Hague 65-64.
The new national coach Johan Roijakkers played with, among others, Malevy Leons and Jesse Edwards, who both made their debut in the American professional competition NBA in the past year.
The Netherlands has to leave behind Austria or Bulgaria on its way to the Austria qualification tournament. After an away match against Bulgaria (August 9), the Netherlands will play against Austria on 13 August. This is followed by another home game against Bulgaria on August 20.
Eight Dutch people in quarterfinals WK BMX
8.11 pm: Eight Dutch BMX’ers qualified for the quarterfinals at the World Cup in Copenhagen on Saturday. In addition, there are two former world champions: Niek Kimmann and Laura Smulders. Kimmann drives his first international title tournament after an inflamed heart muscle cost him participation in the Olympic Games last year.
Kimmann reached the quarterfinals in his heat in his heat. It also contains Dutch champion Jaymio Brink, Mitchel Schotman and Ynze Oegema.

Earlier in the day, Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot also qualified for the half final battle. They will come across the Swedish duo David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig on Sunday. The winners of the gold at the last Olympic Games in Paris defeated the Germans Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler in the quarterfinals.
Guy den Ouden beats Botic van de Zandschulp in Hagen
6.11 pm: Guy den Ouden surprisingly qualified for the semi -final at a challenger tournament in Hagen, Germany. Den Ouden did that by beating his first -placed countryman Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarterfinals. It became 7-6 (2), 4-6, 6-3 for the old.
In the semi-final he finds the Swiss Jerome Kym, who defeated the German Niels McDonald in the quarterfinals: 3-6 6-3 6-2.
Kellynsia Leerdam takes national title Hinkstap jumping and matches record
4.12 pm: Kellynsia Leerdam caught gold at the Dutch Athletics Championships in Hengelo in the Hinkston jumping section. With a distance of 13.51 meters, she equaled the Dutch record of Brenda Baar from 2011.
Maureen Herremans won the silver with a distance of 13.06 meters. Julia van Dijk finished third (12.04).
In the men’s 5000 meters, Olympic finalist Mike Foppen was trumped by Tim Verbaanderd in the final round. Verbaanderd set up for a time of 14.00.14 and kept Foppen (14.01.07) behind it. For the women, the gold went to Jennifer Gulikers (16.13.05) at that distance.
PEC Zwolle for the time being without injured goalkeeper Jasper Schendelaar
