What games are coming up?

Two test international matches: Germany’s handball players meet European champions Sweden on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. (live stream), the game takes place in Kristianstad, Sweden. On Sunday at 3.35 p.m. (live stream) the DHB team will then play in Berlin against Spain, third in the World Cup.

Where are the games broadcast live?

The game on Thursday against Sweden runs in the web-exclusive live stream on sportschau.de. The game against Spain on Sunday can be seen live on the first and in the live stream.

What is the Euro Cup?

As the host, Germany is automatically qualified for the home European Championship in January 2024, and Sweden, Spain and Denmark also have their starting places secured. With the Euro Cup, the European Handball Federation EHF offers a substitute for the European Championship qualifiers with top-class duels.

However, the DHB team has been lagging behind the level so far: the first legs against Sweden (33:37) and Spain (31:32) were lost, against Denmark there were even two clap recently (23:30, 21:28).

Which players are nominated?

National coach Alfred Gislason has invited five debutants: Renars Uscins, Justus Fischer, Max Beneke, goalkeeper David Späth and Philipp Ahouansou. Timo Kastening and Till Klimpke are returning to the 21-strong squad. Luka Stutzke is out with a concussion and Jannick Kohlbacher with the flu. Gislason nominated circle player Tim Zechel.
