EHC Munich wins Bavarian derby against Nuremberg Ice Tigers

The Krefeld Pinguine are staggering further and further towards relegation from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

The German champions from 1952 and 2003 lost 1:5 (0:2, 1:1, 0:2) against the Grizzlies Wolfsburg on Wednesday and is six points behind the saving bank. Wolfsburg consolidated second place in the table.

DEL veteran Sebastian Furchner (12th), Jordan Murray (17th), Darren Archibald (37th), Spencer Machacek (58th) and Jonas Enlund (60th) scored for the Grizzlies. Lucas Lessio (30th) had scored the goal to make it 1-2 in the meantime.

The EHC Red Bull Munich brought in the seventh win from the last eight games. Coach Don Jackson’s team won the Bavarian derby 4-1 against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers and secured third place.

After beating Düsseldorfer EG 4:2, the Straubing Tigers are still on the play-off course, the Iserlohn Roosters got rid of their greatest fears of relegation thanks to a 6:3 win over Adler Mannheim. The Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven lost 2-1 to the Bietigheim Steelers after a penalty shootout.
