EHC Munich Champions League semi-finals postponed again – Newsticker

As the three-time German champions and the Champions Hockey League (CHL) announced, the semifinal match, which has now been shortened to one game, has to be canceled due to the corona. Accordingly, after several positive findings, the Finnish authorities quarantined the entire team of the 17-time champion as a precautionary measure.

“The CHL is currently examining, together with the two clubs and other parties involved, how the game can be rescheduled. The Champions Hockey League will announce further information in due course,” it said.

Final in Angelholm

Originally, the semifinals between Munich and Finland should have been played in a two-legged match on January 4th and 11th. After a corona outbreak at the EHC, the game in the Bavarian capital was canceled first, followed by the second leg in Finland. As a consequence, the semifinals should take place in just one knockout game on January 25th in Tampere.

In the second semi-final, Rögle BK from Ängelholm prevailed after two games against their Swedish compatriots Frölunda HC. Regardless of the match between Munich and Tampere, the final scheduled for March 1st will also take place in Ängelholm.
