A thrilling game is developing between Egypt and Ivory Coast. Two superstars decide the game. Now the next cracker awaits.
The Egyptian national team beat Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations and reached the semi-finals. Mohamed Salah led his team to success against their German World Cup group opponents with a 3-2 win. In the round of the last four teams, Egypt will now face Senegal with Bayern star Nicolas Jackson.
Former Frankfurt player Omar Marmoush (4th), defender Ramy Rabia (32nd) on an assist from Salah and the Liverpool FC striker himself (52nd) scored for the seven-time African champions. The Ivory Coast, where Leipzig’s Yan Diomande was in the starting line-up, came close twice with an own goal from Ahmed Fatouh (40′) and a goal from Guela DouĂ© (73′).
In Agadir, Ivory Coast had more of the game; the Egyptians concentrated primarily on defense and were extremely efficient with the few chances they had. After another goal, the Ivory Coast increased the pressure significantly – without success.
