It took a while, but the Efteling Grand Hotel is finally going up. After construction was delayed at the end of last year, the first pieces of wall could be placed with a crane on Friday morning. As a result, the first details of the new hotel can be seen.
Construction started at the end of 2022. Previously, the construction of the Grand Hotel was delayed by a few months because Byldis encountered financial problems. That company was taken over and the preparatory work could therefore be continued.
The new hotel will be built floor by floor in the coming months. More than 350 prefabricated parts have been prepared by Byldis, a construction company from Veldhoven. These parts weigh 3,000 to 30,000 kilos and are put together on the construction site like a kind of puzzle. The hotel is expected to open its doors sometime in 2025.
A good-sized hotel
The Efteling Grand Hotel will have 140 hotel rooms and suites with a total of 644 beds. The hotel will be seven floors high and will have two restaurants in addition to a swimming pool with sauna and hot tub. Both hotel and park visitors can visit the shops and restaurants.
The theme of the Efteling Grand Hotel is inspired by the fairy tale ‘Swan sticks to’. You will find that fairy tale in a small column at Anton Pieckplein in the park. The clock and the decorations of the column are reflected in the facade of the Grand Hotel.
