The Bundesliga season for FC Bayern is finally over with the master celebration at the Munich town hall balcony-but one topic not only concerns the German record champions, but all football Germany: Leroy Sané is still extending his contract-or does he leave the association? He rejected a first offer from Bavaria, the situation seems to be a procedure. Because club president Herbert Hainer has clearly said it: Sané is available – either he accepts it or not.
And I have to say it directly: Bayern should remain tough and, as already announced, do not improve their offer. Because I don’t understand where the problem is now on the part of the player. Why do the conversations drag on so much? This is a very strange story.
Bayern and Sané were said to have been shortly before an agreement – before the attacker suddenly hired the not undisputed consultant Pini Zahavi. I don’t know what that is about. It just doesn’t look good. This step leaves Sané in no good light. Why doesn’t he express himself in concrete terms so that everyone knows in which direction it should go?
Both the club and the public still remain unclear. This discussion burdens everyone – and especially the relationship between players and fans will suffer. Because in such situations, the supporters of Bavaria and any other club have a very fine feeling of how a player behaves at contract negotiations. And Sané currently does not make a good figure at all. It cannot be in his interest to give the impression that they only want to negotiate more money.
I can understand every Bayern fan who only reacts and thinks with the player’s back and forth: Actually, I don’t want to see Leroy Sané in the Bayern jersey anymore. Because what happens before all eyes will not forget.
To make matters worse: In the past, he has emphasized several times to feel good in Munich – yes, where is the problem? Then he could have signed the new contract two months ago. You have to ask him – even when it comes to a lot of money, of course: what’s the point? It is just sad what more and more players afford in negotiations with the clubs. After all, Sané is not an isolated case, but part of a general development in football that does not good for this beautiful sport.
Sané’s behavior is absolutely unfair to Bayern. Because the team of coach Vincent Kompany is now going into a short break before being prepared for the long club World Cup in the USA. There not only a big title is waving to the record champion, there is also a lot of money at stake. You do not need distractions or internal unrest, and this has long since occurred.
They allow me the phrase: the child has long since fallen into the fountain. And if Bayern wanted, they could also control it and set an example. You could say at a point of your choice: it doesn’t go on like this, we no longer participate – and withdraw the range of Sané. After all, the question is: do you want such a player away from the sporting aspect?
