Ed Sheeran sings in court in plagiarism case | gossip

Sheeran has been accused by vocalist Sami Chokri and his producer Ross O’Donoghue of taking “certain phrases and words” from their song. oh why stole in Shape Of You. Something the British singer denies.

According to Sheeran, it is more common in pop music that songs show similarities. That’s why the singer sang pieces Feeling Good by Nina Simone and No Diggity from Black Street. “If you put them in the same key, they sound the same,” he explained.

No infringement

The case over Shape Of You has been running for almost four years. In 2018, Sheeran asked the Supreme Court to rule that he and his co-writers had not infringed Chokri and O’Donoghue’s copyright. The latter filed their own lawsuit, in which they demanded, among other things, compensation and part of the proceeds of the song.

The substantive treatment started last Friday and is expected to last about three weeks.
