An Easter bump on the Oosterweg in Langelo went up in flames last night.
Just after midnight, people saw a fire on the bump and warned the fire brigade. Fire brigade posts from Norg, Veenhuizen and Roden rushed out. But when they came to the bump, it was already on fire. In addition, sparks and a lot of smoke were released. Due to the drought, it was immediately decided to extinguish the fire.
Earlier this week, the municipality of Noordenveld, just like various other municipalities in the province, announced that Easter fires in the municipality did not take place due to the drought. How the Easter hump started to burn is still unclear. A night earlier, the Easter hump in Erm went up in flames.
