Second career title
For the 26-year-old Greek track it is the second title of his career. At the beginning of this year he was also the best in Pune, India. He is the fourth Dutch winner of the men’s tournament in Rosmalen, after Richard Krajicek (1994 and 1997), Sjeng Schalken (2002 and 2003) and Tim van Rijthoven. To everyone’s surprise, the latter took the title at the Autotron last year. Van Rijthoven then defeated the Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final. This year, Van Rijthoven had to cancel due to an elbow injury.

The final started almost 3.5 hours later than scheduled due to light rain. In addition, the women’s final, which started more than an hour later, lasted almost 3 hours.

Aleksandrova wins in the women’s
That women’s final was won by Russian tennis star Ekaterina Aleksandrova. She extended her title at the grass tournament in Rosmalen. The number 4 on the ranking list and the global number 26 defeated her compatriot Veronika Koedermetova 4-6 6-4 7-6 (3) in a long and exciting final. Koedermetova was placed first on the Autotron.

The 28-year-old Aleksandrova finished in the tiebreak after 2 hours and 52 minutes on her fourth game point. In the third set, Koedermetova had cleared three match points on his own service.

For Aleksandrova it was the fourth title of her career and the first of the season. Last year she was too strong for the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
