The Dutch tennis player Tallon Griekspoor (28) won the Mallorca grass tournament on Saturday. The 28-year-old Haarlemmer defeated his opponent, the French Corentin Moutet, in two sets, with which he won his third ATP title. Two years earlier he already won at Hardcourt in Pune (India) and on the grass of Rosmalen.

Earlier this month, Griekspoor still had to get off during the eighth final of Roland Garros, due to an abdominal muscle injury. He then played with plasters on his stomach and had a visibly weaker service than usual. But with his win on Mallorca, Griekspoor shows itself in top form for the Grandslam tournament Wimbledon that starts on Monday. He will play his first game against the American Jenson Brooksby, 149th on the ATP ranking. Griekspoor never got further than the second round of the tournament, but given his form in Mallorca there is a considerable chance that he will surpass this this year.

With his third ATP victory, the second on grass, Griekspoor has only five Dutch tennis players who won more titles. On Saturday he rose from place 34 to place 29 on the world ranking.
