Rick van Breda has been crowned Dutch champion beach racing. The 31-year-old cyclist from ‘t Zand was the first to cross the finish line in Scheveningen after a very tough race.
The riders raced from Scheveningen to Noordwijk and Katwijk before pulling back to Scheveningen. Due to the strong wind and the rain, it was a wear and tear for the participants.
Van Breda was in the leading group of eight riders. In the sprint, the North Hollander turned out to have the best legs and rode to victory. Roel van Sintmaartensdijk and Jasper Ockeloen completed the podium.
In December, Van Breda was still second at the European Championship beach race.
