Dutch Goldkimono nominated for MME Awards, with show at Eurosonic Noorderslag

A total of fifteen artists have been nominated for the Music Moves Europe Awards 2023, with Goldkimono being the only Dutch person. All fifteen nominees will give a show at Eurosonic Noorderslag on January 19.

The MME Awards are the official European Union awards for pop music, created to accelerate the international careers of artists. The main prize was previously won by, among others Stromae , Rosalia and Dua Lipa . Dutch winners in recent years include Blanks, The Common Linnets, Naaz and Kovacs.

Goldkimono, or Martijn ‘Tienus’ Konijnenburg, has been making good international progress for years. As a student, Konijnenburg started the band Leaf, with which he scored the superhit Wonderwoman. After making music for Krystl, Anouk and Norwegian DJ Kygo, he now returns to the Dutch stages under this new stage name.

Prize package

Six MME Awards winners will each receive a cash prize of 10,000 euros. The winner of the Grand Jury Award will also receive a green tour voucher of 5,000 euros, which can be spent on organizing an environmentally friendly tour. The winner of the Public Choice Award receives 5,000 euros. In addition, they can participate in the ‘business education day’, a training day on professionalization for artists and familiarizing themselves with the music industry.

From the announcement it is possible to to vote for the Public Choice Award. Voting is possible until Friday 6 January. All winners will be announced on 19 January during Eurosonic Noorderslag.
