During the presentation of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) on Sunday evening, the Conclave and The Brutist Won the most prizes. The animation film Wander to Wonder From the Dutch director Nina Gantz won in the “best short animation” category.
It was the 78th edition of the annual presentation, which has been held in the Royal Festival Hall in London since 2023. One of the big winners of the evening was the film Conclavewho was also the biggest contender of the evening with twelve nominations. The British-American psychological thriller is about the inscrutable process with which the Vatican chooses a new pope.
The film, based on the book of the same name by Robbert Harris from 2016, received the most important prize of the evening: the best film award.
The Brutalist also wins many prizes
In addition, the film The Brutalist also received many prizes. The film about a Jewish architect (played by Adrien Brody) who survived the Holocaust won prizes for best actor (Brody), best direction (director Brady Corbet), best cinematography and best music.
Actress Mikey Madison won a BAFTA for her role in Anora. The prices for best supporting roles went to Kieran Culkin A Real Pain and Zoë Saldaña in Emilia Pérez.
The BAFTAs are an important predictor for the Oscars, which will be presented at the beginning of March. Wander to Wonder has also been nominated for an Oscar.
