Fortuna Düsseldorf collected important points in the fight for the promotion with a victory with direct competitor SC Paderborn.
The Rhinelanders prevailed 2-1 (1-0) in Paderborn on Sunday, pushed themselves up to four in the table and are now tied with the third SV Elversberg. Paderborn, on the other hand, received the third defeat in a row and missed the leap to third place. The East Westphalia are now two points behind Düsseldorf. The goals scored Danny Schmidt (40th) and Dawid Kownacki (52nd/foul elf), who also gave the template for the first goal. For Paderborn, Ilyas was shortened (78th).
After the 2: 3 in Braunschweig, Paderborn’s coach Lukas Kwasniok changed his starting eleven in one position: Luca Herrmann was allowed to play again for the first time since the 9th matchday, Ilyas looked at the bench. At Düsseldorf, which had to do without eleven players, Jona Niemic moved to the first team for the red -locked Myron van Brederode. Tim Oberdorf and Matthias Zimmermann also replaced the battered ísak Jóhannesson and Valgeir Lunddal Friðriksson after their yellow barriers.
Paderborn awards opportunities – Düsseldorf meets
In the initial phase, Paderborn had a little more possession and came to the first good opportunity in the game when Adriano Grimaldi (8th) headed just over the goal after a precise flank by Raphael Obermair. The SCP continued to search for gaps and combined through the Fortuna defensive, only the last pass did not arrive. In the 22nd minute, Florian Kastenmaier then had to intervene twice. After a double pass with Santiago Castaneda, Filip Bilbija initially failed with a massive shot from a central position at the Düsseldorf keeper before Kastenmaier also defended the Aaron tenth.
Paderborn increased the pressure, the Fortuna did not really get into the duels. Grimaldi in particular offered more opportunities: First a shot (23rd) of the attacker from 18 meters rushed just over the goal, then he missed a flat cross in a flat cross (28th), and finally the 34-year-old set a volley over the goal. Düsseldorf then came to his first chance against imposed Paderborners: Nicolas Gavory (34th) had a lot of space on the left, pulled into the penalty area and failed with a shot on the short corner on Paderborn’s goalkeeper Manuel Riemann.
After almost 40 minutes, Paderborn continued to be the superior team and recorded a goal shot ratio of 11: 2 – but the lead goal was the Fortuna. A flat cross from the right through Niemic Schmidt initially missed in the middle, but on the second post Kownacki put the ball back to the center, where Schmidt (40th) met with a flying head.
Düsseldorf increases after the break by penalty
After the half -time break, Paderborn got the next neck hit. In his own penalty area, Laurin Curda Düsseldorf’s Niemic hit the foot, the well -positioned referee Robert Kampka immediately decided on a penalty. Kownacki (52nd) competed and hit the corner at the bottom right to 2: 0. The Fortuna now lurked more on the counterattack, Riemann (60th) clarified with a gräsche in front of the Kownacki, which was sent by steep pass.
Shortly afterwards, after a red card against Castaneda (63.), Paderborn had to continue playing tenth. In the event of a scramble with Oberdorf away from the ball, Castaneda beat the Düsseldorfer and had to leave the place after a hint of the vars. Paderborn continued to try, did a deep -standing Düsseldorfer and less but difficult with a player. With a single campaign, Mattes Hansen (74th) left two opponents at the Düsseldorf penalty area, but shot past the goal significantly left.
The view, which had just been substituted, finally gave his team hope again: the attacker (78th) had a little too much space on the penalty area (78th) and sank the ball with a precise shot at the bottom left in the corner. The connection goal gave the home side again – Kastenmaier even had to parry a shot from 25 meters from keeper Riemann (81.) – but the attacks were lacking in both precision and punch.
