Düsseldorf Fashion Days: Pop-up on sustainability

Düsseldorf is hosting a pop-up on the topic of sustainability.

As part of the winter edition of the Düsseldorf Fashion Days, fashion and design labels will present their sustainability aspects on January 27th, the Düsseldorf creative magazine The Dorf, which is curating the event, announced on Tuesday. The pop-up program also includes workshops and lectures.

Location of the sustainable spectacle ‘Sustain!’ is the Bilker Bunker art museum. Under the initiative of the Düsseldorf Economic Development Agency, 14 local brands – including the German designer Angelika Kauffmann and the vintage online shop Untold – are presenting their work and collections. The Swiss bag label Freitag, which has had a store in the North Rhine-Westphalian state capital since 2018, is also represented.

Workshops and panel discussions in Schleuse Zwei, the museum’s music bar, round out the program, which ranges from the history of fast fashion to the possibilities for a more environmentally friendly future, while also shining a spotlight on other companies outside of the fashion industry operating in the German city represent positive role models. Activities include making your own pouch bag with Friday. The brand explains how products can be made from discarded materials such as truck tarpaulins. Visitors to the pop-up can also explore the current exhibition about the history of the place at the same time.

Admission to the pop-up, lectures, workshops and a subsequent celebration is free.
