The managers call this a feat. The job is done in seven months. The roof and the outer walls are insulated, there is new glazing everywhere, a rainwater buffer was installed and a large solar boiler installed.
This reduces the annual CO2 emissions from dune and sea by 20 tons. Flanders invested 1.2 million euros in the renovation. The center is open all year round for group and family vacation. There are 42 youth stays on the coast. Such holiday centers are very popular. Last year there were 10 percent of all overnight stays throughout Flanders, and Duin en Zee is almost full book for the coming months.
