Dua Lipa comes and goes as she pleases. On Thursday evening, the pop star surprised the audience at London’s O2 Arena with an unannounced appearance at Tame Impala’s show, where she performed two tracks.
Lipa joined Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker on stage in the middle of his performance of 2025’s “After Thought.” She didn’t need an introduction, she needs neither: Lipa simply strolled onto the stage and immediately sang the chorus. Only after the song had faded did Parker refer to her as his “good friend” before the two sang their 2024 hit “Houdini.”
Done together
“Let’s play a song we did together!” Parker said as the two collaborators launched into funky chords. The musician and producer co-produced most of Lipa’s album “Radical Optimism”. “Her editing is merciless… I kind of cringed a little bit and thought, ‘Oh no, that’s a great verse!'” Parker told ROLLING STONE 2024 in Lipa’s cover story. “But then an hour later we had something that I can’t imagine living without,” he added about the making of “Houdini.” In the same post, Lipa admitted that she was “so nervous because I’m just such a fan of Kevin.”
Since then, the two have publicly supported each other as best they can. In 2024, Lipa brought Parker on stage for her headlining performance at the Glastonbury Festival. Of course they sang “Houdini” – and also played the Tame Impala track “The Less I Know the Better”. During her 2025 “Radical Optimism” tour, the pop star also invited Parker to join her in Melbourne, Australia.
