Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman has claimed his mother cut him off financially years ago. This comes from a new one document filed as part of Allman’s divorce proceedings from his estranged wife, Marieangela King.

According to court documents filed May 5 in the Superior Court of Los Angeles and viewed by People, Allman requested a reduction in his child support payments. He cited his mother as the reason for this. Allman, Cher’s only son with late Allman Brothers singer Gregg Allman, claims she no longer sends him “recurring gift income” and that he only receives “$10,000 a month from his father’s trust.”

Allman, 49, says the pop star, 79, cut off his financial support in August 2021. Without those funds, his after-tax income would be $6,790, the document shows. It also states that he is obliged to pay King $6,500 a month after their separation.

Allman claims that King “made no effort to support himself.” His lawyers have therefore requested that the amount be reduced to $1,651 per month. A hearing date is scheduled for July 17, according to the report.

No response from Cher’s lawyers

Cher and Allman’s attorneys did not immediately respond to ROLLING STONE’s request for comment. Last month, a judge rejected Cher’s emergency request to have a court-appointed guardian oversee her son’s finances while he was in custody at a New Hampshire mental health facility and facing criminal charges.

Her request was made ahead of his next quarterly payout from his late father’s trust this month.

Cher first filed for guardianship in 2023, claiming Allman urgently needed protection due to “severe mental health issues and addictions.”

The singer and her son agreed to an out-of-court settlement in 2024. This ended Cher’s first attempt to take control of his trust payments.

Another application rejected

When Cher filed her renewed application, she claimed Allman had reneged on his promise to hire a financial manager and that his life had once again been derailed by ongoing addiction and mental health issues.

In a petition filed April 15 in probate court, Cher described Allman as “severely impaired.” She pointed to his recent arrests in New Hampshire on charges of making threats at a school and breaking into a woman’s home. This second application was also ultimately rejected.
