Dua Lipa is taking over the curation of the London Literature Festival at the Southbank Center – a task close to the heart for the pop singer and passionate reader.
Dua Lipa has long been known as a big book fan and avid reader. She even launched the “Service 95 Book Club” as part of her “Service 95” cultural platform. Now she will present and curate a literary festival.
Curator for the London Literature Festival
The festival takes place at the Southbank Center and is considered one of the largest literary events in Europe.
Commenting on her appointment as curator, the musician made the following statement: “Reading has sustained me at every stage of my life – from being a new child at school in a foreign country to finding a quiet retreat while on tour. Curating the London Literature Festival at the Southbank Center is a dream come true for me. I’m so excited to pursue one of my greatest passions: books and the brilliant minds behind them. I can’t wait to be at one of London’s most iconic cultural venues to delve into the fantasy worlds of some of my favorite authors.”
The Southbank Center has existed for 75 years and is considered a venue for large events. Commenting on the upcoming festival, Center Director Mark Ball said: “Dua Lipa is a global cultural force with millions of fans around the world, and her passion for the written and spoken word has inspired a new generation of readers. We are thrilled that Dua will be taking the helm of our flagship event, the London Literature Festival, and will use her incredible creative talent, commitment and reach to connect audiences with our best writers.”
A new book every month
