Franziska Preuss was attributed to good medal opportunities in the sprint at the biathlon World Cup. In the end, she just barely missed gold.

Franziska Preuss won the next German medal at the biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide with silver. In the sprint over 7.5 kilometers in the Swiss Alps, the DSV athlete only made one mistake in shooting and also performed strongly in the trail. For a long time it even looked as if it were enough for the gold medal for the German. But Frenchwoman Justine Braisaz-Bouchet ran a strong final round and repressed Prussia with a 9.8 second lead from first place. Bronze went to Finnin Suvi Minkkinen.

For Prussia, which leads this winter both in the overall and the sprint rating, it was the second medal in a single race after silver in the mass start of the 2015 World Cup at the 2015 World Cup.

“I’m happy about second place. If someone had told me that before the race, I would have signed it immediately,” said Prussia at the ZDF microphone. She clearly annoys herself about the one shooting error, the gold prevented, but she felt very good in the trail and was very happy overall.

At the start on Wednesday, the contingent of the German Ski Association (DSV) with Prussia in the mixed relay won bronze.
