So Luis Vogt certainly did not imagine his first participation in the Ski World Cup. The German fell heavily and flew up into the air.

At the beginning everything looked good for the German ski racer Luis Vogt at the Super-G of the Ski World Cup in Saalbach on Friday. But in the last section of the route it happened: The 22-year-old slipped inwards with the ski, flew through the air and then slid the steep piste part to the finish and there past the target sheet.

The spectators were horrified. When Vogt then stayed in the snow after a few meters and uprising on its own, the fans clapped relieved. The German athlete himself ran towards the exit. The German Ski Association (DSV) said that the Garmischer “violent” bruises on the hip and the thigh had suffered.

Not surprising, with the violent impact of Vogt on the hard slope. A concussion or a serious injury could initially not be determined. Vogt was brought to the German team hotel for further investigations.

Team colleague Romed Baumann then said in the ARD: “It is bitter. We talked about it above: Full concentration over the target jump.” However, Luis Vogt had probably underestimated this. Marco Odermatt won the Super-G, he secured gold.
