Drug-dealing ‘Fishmonger’ who imported cocaine, delivered to prison | Drug war in Antwerp

He was one of the members of a Moroccan family that ran several fishmongers, but which, according to the court, mainly served to launder drug profits.

The local police confirmed this afternoon that Mohamed A. was arrested Friday morning. The arrest unit of the Antwerp police had tracked down Mohamed A. after an observation. The man was one of the main suspects in the investigation against the “Visboeren”. Three brothers from the A. family were sentenced in March 2020 to prison terms of 4 to 8 years for drug trafficking and money laundering. The Moroccan family, known in Antwerp for its fish shops, had laundered drug money for hundreds of thousands of euros, according to the court. They bought, among other things, a loft in the Hilton hotel in Tangier.

The case started to roll after the police placed hidden micros in the home of Mohamed Acr., the father-in-law of one of the brothers A. He had a lover from Spain with whom he liked to show off his illegal wealth. The man officially lived on benefits of 1,100 euros and lived in social housing on the Left Bank.
