Snap, the technology company that owns Snapchat, is asking all owners of Pixy drones to return the products due to the risk of fire.

The Pixy drone, launched by Snap in 2022, did not stay on the market for long, as its production was discontinued after only four months. A total of more than 70,000 devices were sold, mainly to Americans.
The drone, sold at a price of 185-250 dollars, is intended to follow its user and take slightly more stylish shots than the phone camera usually takes.
The small bright yellow Pixy drone was advertised as a “friendly flying camera”, but new information puts the device’s alleged friendliness in a new light. The device can burst into flames due to a detected fault in its battery and thus turn into a flying fireball.
Snap and US authorities urge users to stop using the device immediately, remove the device’s battery, avoid charging it, and return the drone to the company without the battery. Snap has become aware of one fire and one minor injury caused by a defect.
Snap will refund the price of the device for each drone returned to it, even if the user does not have a receipt.
The company says on its website that it will end Pixy support for the Snapchat application during February.
