The Dutch police organized a control campaign on the A16 between Dordrecht and Moerdijk on Thursday evening. However, the driver of a Renault Megane with French registration ignored a stop sign and drove away from the police. So he gave chase. The fleeing vehicle crossed the border into our country and was spotted a little later on the E19 near Loenhout. Both the federal road police and the Antwerp local police went there with different teams.

The fleeing vehicle reached speeds of up to 190 kilometers per hour and overtook other vehicles along the hard shoulder. On the E313 near Grobbendonk, however, he had to swerve on that hard shoulder for a signalisation vehicle with a bumper. The driver crashed his car into a truck in the right lane, but was able to flee on foot. However, the police were able to arrest him on the verge next to the highway.

It concerns a 35-year-old Algerian living in France. He was taken to hospital for treatment, but will later have to appear before the investigating judge. In addition to fleeing the police check and the series of serious traffic violations he subsequently committed, the man will also have to answer for the enormous amount of ecstasy pills in his car.
