ranstIn the Gustaaf Peetersstraat in Broechem, a car drove into the garage door of a house on Sunday morning. The driver came from the direction of Massenhoven and probably flew out of the bend. No one was injured, but the fire brigade had to come to the house to support it.

Frans (63) and Ingrid (61) were shocked when they were woken up with a lot of noise at half past six this morning. “Suddenly there was a car in our entrance hall,” says Ingrid. “The debris was on the stairs, the table and some chairs were broken and everything was covered with gravel and dust. Our front door was suddenly in the living room.”

The ZARA zone police confirms. “The driver was under the influence of alcohol,” explains spokeswoman Els Kusters. “She came from the direction of Massenhovensesteenweg and according to the first statements it is possible that she dozed off for a while. Fortunately, the 50-year-old lady was not injured.”

Granddaughter not impressed

According to Frans, the driver herself was very friendly and seemed very shocked. “But she didn’t even need an ambulance. The airbag had done its job.” it sounds. The fire brigade had to come by to prop up the house as a precaution. The vehicle, which was perte total, was towed away.

Fortunately, their granddaughter, who happened to have stayed overnight that night, didn’t seem overly impressed. “I didn’t even wake up from the bang. Only when I heard chatter did I come down.” she says proudly. The young girl even immediately saw possibilities in the wooden panels that now temporarily cover the front door and garage of her grandparents and drew a beautiful house for decoration.
